Cyber Bullying and Online Hate are two terms that are now emerging with the emergence of Social Media. Social Media is now becoming very common, and right now almost every other person is using social media. With the increasing use of social media, the cases of cyberbullying and online hate are also increasing. These cyberbullying and online hate cases are infecting social media and making it an unsafe place for people.
Cyber Bullying and Online Hate, is destroying the lives of people. These problems in social media are increasing much because of the fact, that, a majority of the people using social media have no etiquette as to how to use social media. They have no education as to what are the pros and cons of social media, and how to use it in a respectful manner, and respecting the other person’s privacy. In my opinion, there must be a special subject taught to people as to how to use social media, in a positive, effective and respectful manner. This is to make sure that people have the knowledge of using social media. I see, whenever a person posts something on their social media, if we go through the comments below that post, you’ll see some people, who actually praise that person and show support, however, there are many who comment inappropriate comments underneath, which comes under cyberbullying and online hate. I have seen people giving explicit naked abuses in the comments section of the people, especially in the comments section of the posts of the well-known people as well, too much to the extent that the comments sections of the influential people are also filled with these filthy abuses. This may be termed as “Social Media Abuse”.
I have also seen that many unknown people send messages, without respecting the privacy of the other person, asking for their personal information, and this happens especially with girls. DMs of most of the girls are flooded with some disgusting beast messaging inappropriate things to them, for that FIA must make a strict law, in which the girls can report online harassment, for their safety online. However, sometimes, it is also the other way round, for which the FIA must also make law. I would request the FIA that it should launch an app, in which men and women, who face online harassment, cyberbullying and online hate, can report their issue, and there must be an effective way to track, trace and punish the person who is violating someone’s online privacy. Special courts must be set up to ensure justice to the victim.
Furthermore, I would also like to talk about the fake news busters. Fake News is becoming a real headache for society. Fake News is now becoming a National Security Issue, which has to be tackled effectively. People misquote the statements of other people to incite the public against that person, and people, without even verifying what actually was the statement start giving their opinions on it. The irony is that nowadays, fake news is being spread by some well-known people, including journalists. Whenever you get a piece of news, first verify its authenticity, and then give your opinion or accept or deny it. Never accept or deny news without verifying it by an authentic source. When someone tries to speak about that people, people come with an argument of Freedom of Speech, but they misuse the term Freedom of Speech. Do criticize, but do CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. Abuses, misquoting, fake news and hate speech is NOT a criticism, it is a crime, so please don’t commit crimes in the name of Freedom of Speech. If you want to criticize, do it in a respectful manner, after verifying the issue, and give suggestions for improvements in a respectful manner. Respect the privacies of the other person, and if the other person is not willing to talk to you, please stop messaging that person again and again to annoy him/her.
I hope I was able to convey my concerns to you people. I hope you people understand the importance of respect on social media. Social Media can always be used in positive ways, and yes social media can be a source of income for you, if you use it positively. Use Social Media positively and not negatively. Respect other person’s opinions. I also want to say that please stop giving religious or political labels to the people who express their views, you are not the one to decide his/her religious or political affiliation. You have the right to agree or disagree with the person’s opinion in a respectful manner.
I hope you people will understand this, and learn to use social media in a positive and effective manner. Let’s make social media, a safe place for all of us so that people don’t feel unsafe online. If someone violates the rules, must be tracked, traced and be given exemplary punishments. Ministry of Interior, Ministry of IT, FIA, PTA and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting must sit and devise an effective law to tackle online harassment, online hate, cyberbullying, and fake news so that everyone is safe online.
